The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Calphalon Company are recalling about 217,000 Contemporary Cutlery Knife Sets in the United States and Canada.  Consumers are urged to stop using these knives.

Apparently, the tips of the 8-inch slicing knife and 8-inch bread knife can protrude through the bottom slot row on the wooden block holder.  This can possibly result in a laceration hazard.  The company has received at least one report of a cut finger injury.

The recall includes all 17 and 21-piece Contemporary Cutlery Knife Sets manufactured between August 2007 and May 2011.  They were sold at stores nationwide, including Macy’s, Bed Bath and Beyond, Bloomingdales and Dillard’s at a price of $200 to $300.  For additional information, contact Calphalon at 800-809-7267 or www.calphalon.com.

If you have been injured by one of these knives, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate and make sure you are compensated for any injuries or medical expenses you may have incurred.
